After looking at the Dallas Cowboys schedule I am predicting a 11- 5 record and a Wild Card playoff seeding. Once again the NFL schedule makers and TV networks know the Cowboys are the most popular sports franchise giving America's team a league leading 6 Nationally televised games. I know its almost silly predicting what their record will be since the season is still 5 months away, but everyone does it anyway.
SEPT 13 WEEK 1 - @ TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS- The Bucs will have a new quarterback either Byron Leftwich or Luke McNown. I'll take Tony Romo over those two 24/7. Marion Barber, Felix Jones, and Tashard Choice combine to run for 170 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Cowboys have too much talent on both sides of the ball and win easily 24-7. Record 1-0
SEPT 20 WEEK 2 VS NY GIANTS- Cowboys open new stadium ( still to be named) in prime time. Cowboys will need extra incentive to compete against the Plaxico-less G-Men. This will be a nail biter, but in the end Nick Folk will kick a 41 yard game winning field goal for a 16- 13 win. Record 2-0
SEPT 28 WEEK 3 VS CAROLINA PANTHERS- Its Monday Night and America can't get enough of Cowboys and their new stadium. Roy Williams catches 7 passes for 130 yards and 1 TD. The trade with Detroit Lions begins to pay off. DeMarcus Ware notches his 5th and 6th sacks of the season already, terrorizing poor Jake Delhomme into another horrible game. Cowboys remain undefeated by winning 31-14. Record 3-0
OCT 4 WEEK 4 @ DENVER BRONCOS- No Cutler. No Defense. Broncos no chance. Cornerback Champ Bailey bottles up Roy Williams but Miles Austin catches a long TD pass from Romo, who has a field day throwing for over 300 yards and 3 TDS with Jason Witten hauling in 2 TDS. Cowboys 30- Broncos 14. Record 4-0
OCT 11 WEEK 5 @ KANSAS CITY CHIEFS- Riding high on their early season success the Cowboys romp through the Chiefs with Barber,Jones, and Choice gallop through a porous defense on route to a 28-10 thrashing. DeMarcus Ware sacks Matt Cassell 3 times ( Cassell sacked 6 times) upping his league leading total to 10. Record 5-0
OCT 18 -WEEK 6 BYE WEEK- WELL DESERVED
OCT 25 WEEK 7 VS ATLANTA FALCONS- Head Coach Wade Phillips loosens the reins and the
team reverts to last season full of themselves and dont practice hard enough. They under estimate QB Matt Ryan and a hungry Falcons team eager to make a name for itself. Tony Romo plays poorly throwing 2 interceptions and losing a fumble. The only bright spot Felix Jones returns a kickoff for a 90 yard TD, Cowboys loose 24-16 suffer first loss of season. Tony Romo gives his "its only 1st loss of season speech" which drives the media and fans crazy which prompts another debate wether Romo is the right man for the job. Record 5-1
NOV 1 WEEK 8 VS SEATTLE SEAHAWKS- Just what the doctor ordered a gift wrapped game. Romo redeems himself throwing for over 300 yards again with 4 TDs showing how explosive this team is when motivated Roy Williams snares 2 more TDs. DeMarcus Ware has another monster game registering 2 more sacks. Secondary locks down Seattle Wr's all day. Its a laugher 35- 7. Record 6-1
NOV 8 WEEK 9 @PHILADELPHIA EAGLES- Its like Deja-Vu all over again. Cowboys play intimidated listening to all the sports media saying they had no chance to beat Iggles. Donovan McNabb has a field day again possibly playing last game against Cowboys as an Eagle, a Brian Dawkins- less secondary still baffles Cowboys WR's. Cowboys lose 37-17. Record 6-2
NOV 15 WEEK 10 @ GREEN BAY PACKERS- Life on the road is tough- especially at Lambeau Field. After some 1st half miscues, Tony Romo marches Cowboys on an 80 yard 2 minute drill in the 4th quarter. 4th and goal at the Packers 2 yard line and Marion Barber fumbles with the cheese heads recovering the pig skin. A dissapointing 2nd consecutive loss 17- 21. " FIRE WADE" websites pop up all over the internet. Bill Cowher calls Jerry Jones to offer his condolences and ask for a Dallas area realtor reccomendation. Record 6-3
NOV 22 WEEK 11 VS WASHINGTON REDSKINS- Despite still reeling from 2 consecutive losses, the Cowboys muster up old time dislike for Foreskins and play well. An all around solid performance. Orlando Scandrick and Mike Jenkins each intercept QB Jason Campbell, Scandrick returns his for a TD. Tashard Choice proves he has good talent and is the unsung hero playing garbage minutes. Both fans, players, coaches, and JJ relish this 27-17 victory. Record 7-3.
NOV 26 WEEK 12 VS OAKLAND RAIDERS- Thank the NFL schedule makers again for offering up the Raiders for Thanksgiving Day. This is no contest. DeMarcus Ware continues his MVP season collecting his 17th sack. Cowboys enjoy a satisfying 31-16 win. Record 8-3
DEC 6 WEEK 13@ NY GIANTS- A revenge game for the G-Men. RB Brandon Jacobs has a 100 yard game first time Cowboys allow a running back to rush for that much all season. Cowboys lose 6-17. Record 8-4. Ghosts of late season collapses loom in the distance.
DEC 13 WEEK 14 VS SAN DIEGO CHARGERS- Former TCU star RB Ladainian Tomlinson shows he still got some gas left in his tank and rushes for 100 yards and a couple of TDS. Jason Witten and Romo hook up for 2 more Tds and the Cowboys win a squeaker 23-20. Record 9-4
DEC 19 WEEK 15 @ NEW ORLEANS SAINTS- Saturday night Prime Time. An old fashioned barn burner on tap. Drew Brees and Tony Romo combine for over 600 yards passing and 7 Tds. Jason Witten proves again he is the best TE in the game. Saints prevail 41-38. Record 9-5
DEC 27 WEEK 16 @ WASHINGTON REDSKINS. Santa leaves coal in Deadskins' stockings as Washington has nothing to play for but Cowboys don't want another repeat of end of season disasters. The team plays like gangbusters but the scoreboard only reads 21-7 and sweeps Washington for the season. The defense wins this one securing a play-off spot. Record 10-5
JAN 3 WEEK 17- VS PHILADELPHIA EAGLES- Cowboys finally close out regular season on a win and knock Iggles out of the play offs 27-14. Record 11-5.
